Facebook - the most popular social networking site is a great site where we connect with friends but do you know that facebook knows almost about all your activity that you perform on the internet and on your phones. Yeah, that's true. Your activities are a precious treasure for this tech companies. They collect data and store them in their servers and you can't do anything about it. You are using facebook in your phone with the help of facebook app and for messaging you might be using messenger app. They monitor your activities using these apps and save them in their servers. You can  check what type of information facebook is storing in their servers by downloading them in your computer. 

Follow the below steps to download your data stored with facebook.

1. First of all, login to your facebook account using your username and password and then go to settings. Below you will see the option download a copy of facebook data. Click it.

2.  After clicking the download option you will be taken to a page where you can choose the type of data you want to download. You will see all kinds of information like photos, videos, posts etc. If you want to download all the files then just click Create File.

3.  When you scroll down below you will see other type of information also like phone calls, messages, search history etc. By default all these options are ticked. If you don't want to download certain data, untick it.

4. After you have clicked Create File, you will see a message in the screen saying "Your File is being processed". The file processing will take time depending upon your data size. If your account is very old and you are downloading all of your files then it might take upto  30 mins or more but if your account doesn't have too much data then in 5 to 10 mins your file will get processed.

5. A message will pop up  saying that your file is ready to be downloaded. Click the Available files option as shown below and then you can click download button to download it in your device.

6. The downloaded file is a zip file. You need a  software to extract the files. If you don't have such a software then download 7-zip. It is an open source software that means its free. Extract the files. Since the data was downloaded in html format you have to open the files with the help of a browser to view it.

 You will be shocked to see that everything from phone calls to messages , location, search history and many such things are  collected by facebook and is stored in their servers. Facebook will keep collecting your data as long as you use facebook. Your valuable data available with facebook can only be deleted from their server if you delete your account. By no other means  you can remove your data from facebook servers.
